Re: Solo [ENGLISH] The Prophet by Khalil Gibran-neb
Both files are PL OK, and they have a disclaimer already.

Re: Disclaimer
Readers are already free to do that, at archive.org, and so many other places. Anyone can upload anything they want there, with all those licenses as a choice. I actually think it does hinder the mission of making all audiobooks free if we stick any restriction to it. This is a very old thread from ...

Re: Disclaimer
I understand Ruth's concerns about adding the information to the recording itself - but then, how would it be worded? Hokus gave an idea: I think, it is enough to say "This recording is in the public domain", and additionally we put the CC0 link on the catalog page. People said it wasn't e...

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on
Regarding the disclaimer, I think we should be consistent. In Librivox, we have some very popular books, still copyrighted in the EU, and we don't have it stated on the audio, only on the catalog page. I forgot which one it is now that has this very big warning on the top of the page. So, I think we...

I've just remembered another one for Portuguese, I am adding it to the first post: http://www.brasiliana.usp.br/

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on
Hmm. The "This LV recording is in the PD" meant, for me, that *I* was releasing it in the PD. I mean, it just means I can't claim any rights over it, I am releasing this recording - but if the text is PD in your country or not, that's for you to research. Anyway, for the sake of concision,...

Re: Domain name
I very much like the name legamus. Legamus means "let's read" (and not "we read", which would be "legimus"). Of course, the root originally meant "to pick, to gather, to collect, to harvest", so it could be used with the meaning of "taking, taking away, t...

Re: Forum guidelines?
I was going to offer to start a solo, since I am one section away from finishing my Portuguese solo in LV. There is this Portuguese author who published all his good work in 1925 and dropped dead. Very inconvenient. He can't be recorded for LV (except for very few poems he published in magazi...

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on
I kind of agree that we could keep just the list for people to fill in, and the MC would paste the rest of the template. Might get confusing/intimidating/etc. Disclaimer: I am still against the "for more free audiobooks" bit. I like Nadine's more informal idea of "Come help" :D A...

Re: Where can we find book texts to read for legamus.eu?
For Portuguese I use http://www.dominiopublico.gov.br It's a government-run project with PD works in Portuguese and other languages (even though most of the "other languages" stuff is taken from Gutenberg anyway.) The National Library of Portugal is digitalizing all their rare documents co...

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on
Putting together what me and Hokus think, we could come up with the following list, that would be the "template" for starting books: Title of book: Online source: Date of first publication: Author: Dates of birth and death of author: Translator: Dates of birth and death of translator: Numb...

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on
I think we ought to make it clearer... the templates in LV are obviously confusing for anyone without some knowledge of code, for example. People keep on forgetting to fill in things, copying wrong... you know how it is. I think we should come up with something simpler for people to fill in. I thoug...

Re: Discussion of set-up/future legamus.eu
Maybe it's too early to think of this, but since I can't help much with the techie stuff, I am thinking of the project-stuff. We will most-likely need a disclaimer, and some templates. We could of course copy some from Librivox, but I suggest we get the experience from there and try some clearer, pl...

Re: Discussion of set-up/future legamus.eu
Hi, all I can easily help manage a Portuguese subforum area, if that's what's decided. I can help with Spanish as well, while there is no one around that speaks better Spanish than me. And after 14 years I am going back to studying French so maybe I can grow some confidence in myself and help...
