Re: Supernatural Horror in Literature by H.P. Lovecraft - ho

Thanks. A question: section 5 includes many names of writers, some of which have been abbreviated. Some of them are obvious, such as "A. Conan Doyle", others I can look up in Wikipedia. I was thinking of reading them all in full, it may serve as some kind of guide for weird literature read...

Re: Supernatural Horror in Literature by H.P. Lovecraft - ho

Here's the corrected version: http://ge.tt/8Ql8rdG/v/0 If you are already reading along while PLing for the sake of greater clarity, it would be great if you could keep on informing me about any missing/distorted text, especially if it changes the meaning of the fragment. I guess it's rather hard to...

Re: Supernatural Horror in Literature by H.P. Lovecraft - ho

Ok, no problem.

As to the ID3 tags, I think I also made a mistake in the author's surname in the Section 1 file- there should be only one "l" in Philips.

Re: Supernatural Horror in Literature by H.P. Lovecraft - ho

Is this any better? http://ge.tt/6c9yfXG/v/0
By the way, I forgot to put "02" in the "track title" field of the ID3 tag.

Yes, I agree that this book can give a reader plenty of reading suggestions. That's the main reason why I decided to record it.

Re: Supernatural Horror in Literature by H.P. Lovecraft - ho

I added the missinig fragment. As to the noisecleaning, I know that there still is some hum to be heard, but I don't know how to clean it really. I'm not that good at noisecleaning. I don't experiment with settings because I don't know in what way manipulating any of the sliders will affect my recor...

Re: Supernatural Horror in Literature by H.P. Lovecraft - ho

I've seen sections at LV with the duration of over 60 minutes. Keeping the duration format the way it is now may be a good idea. As to the other details you mentioned earlier: I think I'll copy the description from Wikipedia. Link to the author: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._P._Lovecraft Link to t...

Re: Supernatural Horror in Literature by H.P. Lovecraft - ho

I used the noisecleaning settings that you recommended and it worked great :D http://ge.tt/44BFDUG/v/0 I replaced the file. And yea, my laptop hums rather loudly. I use a headset round-plug microphone and read text off the screen, which means that can't move away that much from the monitor, but I'll...

Re: [English] Persuasion

As far as I know at this point the influx of new works into Public Domain in US is kind of frozen until some year around 2020 (I saw the exact date somewhere, but I can't remember it know. As to your question, those US rules we're discussing here don't care about the date of death. The works of an a...

Re: [English] Persuasion

As to the US/other countries copyright differeces. The American copyright law works on the basis of year of publication- whatever was published before 1923 is OK for the US-based Librivox to record (don't ask me why this particular cut-off year, though). On the other hand most other countires have a...

Re: ~Supernatural Horror in Literature by H.P. Lovecraft - h

You're obviously right about the number of chapters, there are 10 of them, and not 8. I intend to record each of them separately. You can use the address I gave when registering. Will you be sending mails to me or sth?

Re: Supernatural Horror in Literature by H.P. Lovecraft

I hope I did everything the right way. If not, please tell me what I should change.
This work was first published in 1927. It consists of 8 sections, 6 of which have under 3000 words each. A good and informative read for anyone interested in weird fiction :)

Re: Authors who entered the public domain in 2012

Not an author (at least not in the first place), but a very prolific translator of French literature into Polish- Taduesz "Boy" Żeleński- died in 1941, which means that his translations are now PD :D Now, the only obstacle is to find some old enough editions...

Re: HP Lovecraft

The work as a whole will definitely be longer than 8000 words. You're right that BCing a group effort is a lot of work and a very protracted task, and that's why I'll just do it as a solo project.

Re: HP Lovecraft

As you may know the US copyright status of Lovecraft's post-1922 works is very unclear. For this reason, LV doesn't accept suggestions of the projects involving his works published after that year. I would like to read some of the HPL stuff for legamus, either as a solo thing or (preferably) as grou...

Re: Polish

That's great. Maybe you could also include "Widziadła" there. I bet it will look a bit weird as a stand-alone story given that there is a siutable collection.
