Re: Welcome everybody!
Hello Adrian, and happy new year! You are most welcome here. I hope you will enjoy life on Legamus. There generally aren't that many dramatic readings here, but there is at least one group project in English open (I know because I'm the BC!) and there is quite a lot to choose from if you fancy recor...

Re: solo [ENGLISH] Oscar Wilde Discovers America [1882] by Lloyd Lewis and Henry Justin Smith - vik
It's always nice to have a clear run at some recording/editing time, so please do carry on. I want to hear this, but I'll be slow. Another project I'm PLing has been uploaded to the end of the book, so I'll be spending more time on that than with Wilde for the time being. These illustrations are bri...

Well, you'd mentioned it in the project that's just wrapped up, so I thought I'd take a look.
No problem about the length. I'm just happy for there to be more audiobooks in the world.
That's fine about the PLing. Onward!

Hi Rob,
Would you like me to DPL again? And if so, what level of PLing would you like?

Re: solo [ENGLISH] Oscar Wilde Twice Defended by Robert Sherard - vik
I'm glad it wasn't just me who was surprised by the depiction of Robbie Ross. I thought when I saw it on the launch pad that he would be strident about defending Wilde, but I hadn't realised that he'd be aiming at nearly anyone who came in his path. This was ever so slightly mad, but I appreciate ha...

Re: solo [ENGLISH] Oscar Wilde Twice Defended by Robert Sherard - vik
O my. He called Ernest Dowson a hack! Section 04 is PL OK. I have one note for section 03 that I think changes the meaning: 23.21-23.30 bottom p. 60, ‘not’ added to sentence I would rather [not] believe this, knowing that Harris had no scruples about inserting deliberate forgeries into his text abou...

Re: solo [ENGLISH] Oscar Wilde Twice Defended by Robert Sherard - vik
A couple of notes for section 2. I'm most curious to know what he has to say about Shaw. 24.21-24.34, second half p. 37, repetition …and the foul disease was still la bouteille d’encre – and the foul disease was still la bouteille d’encre – bottle of ink – to the doctors. 39.22-39.25, bottom half p....

Re: solo [ENGLISH] Oscar Wilde Twice Defended by Robert Sherard - vik
I think we're talking about the same thing. I've seen it called scurrilous and crude and all manner of similar things. That seemed a bit one-sided. I've seen only one person I can recall referring to it as a roman a clef, which seems a lot less dismissive. I'd like to read it and make up my own mind...

Re: group [ENGLISH] After Long Silence by William Butler Yeats - jn
Fab! The poem itself is absolutely fine, but could you please trim the opening silence just a wee bit so it's half a second to one second? And if you're able to add tags in whichever software you use, could you please add those? The info for that is near the bottom of the first post. When you upload...

Sarah, thank you for stopping by. It will be very nice to have your version in the project.
Viktor, thank you so much for looking into it.

Re: solo [ENGLISH] Oscar Wilde Twice Defended by Robert Sherard - vik
Section 1 is PL OK! I'm not surprised the long title confused you. I saw it and thought it augured well for the book, but perhaps not for recording as almost a chapter in itself! No problem about the pronunciations. I understand the to-do list growing at a terrifying pace all too well, and just want...

Re: solo [ENGLISH] Oscar Wilde Twice Defended by Robert Sherard - vik
Hi Rob, I should have said sooner, but I follow along with the text and tend to do a sort of PL PLus - with prose I make a note of things that seem to alter the meaning or any other little thing that catches my attention. Some readers want to know about anything and everything, however minor, while ...

Re: solo [ENGLISH] The Guermantes Way by Marcel Proust - vik
Sections 17 and 18 are spot PL OK.
I know there are errors in PG, I'm just never sure when they'll manifest themselves. They can't really help but creep in, given the length of some of the books on the site. At least this one has been resolved!

There are two notes for section 18 - again, these are at your discretion.
5.53-5.57

Re: group [ENGLISH] After Long Silence by William Butler Yeats - jn
Ha! I think we've all been there. It's saved with the extra silence this time, so it's all fine and dandy. PL OK! As we're about to work together on the Wilde bio, I'll just mention it now - I run the files through Checker as a sort of backup, and on this particular one it registered fairly high bac...

For section 17, I have a few optional notes. Most pertain to pronunciations, and where Oxford/Lexico and Howjsay provided the same pronunciation, and only one, I've just given the link for the former website. If you're having trouble hearing it, I'll find another way. It's entirely up to you if you'...

Re: group [ENGLISH] After Long Silence by William Butler Yeats - jn
Thank you! There is some late Halloween gremlin or something though, because I am still hearing/seeing about a tenth of a second at the start. I'm sorry to be a pain, but could you give it another shot? The email notifications sometimes take a few minutes to come through. Is that perhaps what you're...
