Hi Barbara,

I've had a stonking good editing session, but this has cleaned out my prerecorded sections so please don't rush. In fact, I think it's probably better if you pace yourself with these.

This batch includes the word 'fleshbag' (section 42). Who knew that poetry could reach such heights?

That wasn't so bad. You make her sound better than she is. Sections 7 and 20 are PL OK!

Best.

Barbara, hoping for the worst

Hello Barbara,

Another short batch for whenever you've got the stamina.

https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/ ... 02_ros.mp3 (2.04)
https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/ ... 11_ros.mp3 (1.52)
https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/ ... 12_ros.mp3 (1.12)

Believe it or not, she had another collection of verse, though it was published early enough to be Librivox-able. Its title is Poems of Puncture. She did like her alliteration.

Well, what can I say? McKittrick Ros was much possessed by death...

All PL OK!

Best,

Barbara

The readings are all PL OK. The delicate *cough, cough" was nicely timed. Some pretty startling imagery but I think what I appreciate the most is the syntax (if that's the word).

Best,

Barbara

More sex and death, McKittrick Ros style:

https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/ ... 04_ros.mp3 (1.07)
https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/ ... 08_ros.mp3 (3.27)
https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/ ... 14_ros.mp3 (1.58)
https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/ ... 15_ros.mp3 (0.59)
https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/ ... 23_ros.mp3 (1.39)

This batch has another one of those words she couldn't bear to have printed. As for the rest, it's the usual word salad.

I'm on a roll, but I think I've had all the McKittrick Ros I can possibly stomach for a little while.

I'm taking small bites myself. Sections 2 and 11 are PL OK. I think Section 11 has been my favorite so far - laugh out loud at times.

Best,

Barbara

Thank you very much! I don't blame you for pacing yourself. I launched a very short poetry solo on Librivox earlier than intended because I couldn't take any more badly rhymed sin and censoriousness.

In which we learn, with no discernible irony, that McKittrick Ros's favourite flower was the narcissus.

Another small batch with more of the 'you'll be sorry when I'm dead' school of poetry.

https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/ ... 19_ros.mp3 (2.17)
https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/ ... 22_ros.mp3 (2.09)
https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/ ... 24_ros.mp3 (1.58)

Please take your time PLing. There's the entire Internet Archive of normal poetry to go read, so we don't need to unleash this beast on the world just yet.

OK. Sections 4, 8, 12 and 14 are all PL OK.

Listening to Section 8 (female garments de nos jours) I was shocked. Shocked.

Best,

Barbara

She is indeed shocking.

I've learned that I'll be away for most of next month, so I'll address any PL notes when I'm back. If you'd like a postcard, please feel free to PM me your address. It's the least I can do after spamming you with this appalling verse.

Narcissusism run wild.

Section 18 is PL OK. I'm so sorry - I only found the MW tonight!

Sections 15 and 19 are also PL OK.

Best,

Barbara

No worries about the MW. And honestly, anything I can do to ease the discomfort occasioned by this is fine!

Sections 21, 22 and 23 are PL OK.

I think the habit of inverting subject and predicate got the better of our author's grammar at one stage but have I the courage to go back and check? No, I do not.

Best,

Barbara

You have no idea. I've had more outtakes with this project than I normally do for poetry. Normal verse read incorrectly sounds or feels wrong immediately at least some of the time, but even when this is word perfect it sounds and feels completely off.

So true.

To intermittently hear was I
wormily the malaprops.
Inflated were my
Drums with eardrops.

But 24,26 and 27 are PL OK.

Best,

Barbara
