In the tale, written in 1927, an unnamed narrator pieces together the story of an area known by the locals as the "blasted heath" in the wild hills west of Arkham, Massachusetts. Listening to the experiences of an old man by the name of Ammi Pierce, the narrator learns the story of an uncanny calamity which befell a local farmer and his family many decades earlier. This is my favourite novella by Lovecraft. Is has slightly more than 12,000 words, so 3-4 sections will suffice.

Hi again :)

MW is up and running. I didn't know if you wanted to use the word part or section. That's up to you.

Unfortunately I can't PL this time. If no one picks it up from the launch pad you can post in our Listeners Wanted or over at LV.

H. I just wanted to give a sign of life and to say that I've just recorded section 1. Now I have to edit it, but I think I'll be able to post the link tomorrow at the latest.

I recorded section 2

http://ge.tt/1Y0KmrK/v/0

It's the first section of this length that I recorded using this microphone. I recorded my LV solo (typically 6-7 minutes per section) simply holding the mike in my hand. As this one was longer (approx. 19:35) I put the microphone in an empty mug  I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that there is an audible rumble-like sound throughout the file?

I think the rumble-like sound is connected with it being in a cup, but it's not a disturbing sound.

I have marked the section PL OK in our Magic Window, but I'll mention two instances where the sound fell low, in case you as the reader would prefer that changed. I, as the listener, didn't mind it :D
So, the instances are at around 03:23 and 17:24

Hey, I've just found out that yesterday was an anniversary of Lovecraft's birth. Looks like a great motivating factor to finish this one :!: I'll try to record the last two sections today.

Didn't manage to record both but here's section 3
http://ge.tt/8RkkEPM/v/0 (it's being uploaded now) Duration: 16:36

To Rapunzelina: I'm aware that there are quite loud thuds audible every now and then since about 7th minute on until the end. I don't know what caused them (any suggestion welcome) and I seriously hope they are not very disruptive, because I would hate to redo all that 10 minute part
Also, one major problem of having a non-headset mike without a mike stand is that parts of recording now and then get quieter. I had to hunt them down one by one and amplify them. Please tell me if there are any survivors

Your recording is very clear, no disruptive thuds etc.

so section 3: PL OK.

Looking forward to the last section! (you have a gift in stopping in the most suspensful moments ;) )

Maybe I simply spent too much time agonizing over them annd in the end they appeared to me to be louder than they really were...
Looking forward to the last section! (you have a gift in stopping in the most suspensful moments ;) )
I hope to be able to record it today. And as to the cliffhanger moments, when planning a new section, I always spend a few minutes searching for them

Section 4 is being uploaded now. It will be available at: http://ge.tt/8zzNwTM/v/0 Duration: 17:57

There is an error in ID 3 tags for that section. The titile should read "THE Colour out of Space.
