COMPLETE [Eng] A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf - hok

Post by Cori »

A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf (1882-1941)

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page:
http://legamus.eu/blog/?p=153

This feminist essay argues for both a literal and figural space for women writers within a literary tradition dominated by patriarchy. First published on 24 October 1929, the extended essay was based on a series of lectures delivered by Virginia Woolf at Cambridge University in October 1928. While it employs a fictional narrator and narrative to explore women both as writers of and characters in fiction, the manuscript for the delivery of the series of lectures, titled “Women and Fiction”, and hence the essay, are non-fiction. Hi Cori,

I'm your MC. I'll set things up this afternoon. Great to have you here!
I need your Google ID if you have one or your email to give you access to the MW. Can I take the one you used to register here? If not, please PM me another.

All set up, you and dii should be able to edit the MW. If not, please shout.
Things are about the same as at LV.
The best uploader/file hoster for us is ge.tt. You can create a free account there or use it without account. The French hoster wants a capcha since recently, that's a bit inconvenient.
Tech specs are the same.
We don't have a validator, so please add the track number and genre speech.

Questions or suggestions are very welcome.

Welcome Cori :)

HP, great magic window, I thought I'd let you know that i checked and cannot edit it, so if Cori and Dii can, I guess the permissions are set right (which is always good to know) :D

Section 1 is just uploading to ge.tt. I've forgotten tags (or at least, I put them in, then futzed with the volume and they were overwiped) ... but will do that at the end, so they're all nicely synced.

Should be at http://ge.tt/1btiXDJ in about 10 mins from time of posting this. :)

47:34 -- one of these days I'll find a favourite author who likes writing 5-min-long chapters.

Thanks, Dii -- I'm uploading an extra 5 secs of quiet now :D Though, that's pretty boring for you to listen to, so I'm popping Section 2 up as well! Will take ages to upload, but should be in the ge.tt folder eventually.

[P.S. Dear people reading: if you want to check that link and listen to files in progress, you are welcome. Eventually we'll host these files on legamus' own folders and then we won't have the bandwidth for people to do that -- but for now, if you want to hear what I'm up to, please feel free!]
