This leaves only me. Again
Anyway, this one has filled up very fast. Shall we launch pt. 4 after this one is closed?

Hi Guys!
Oh, I liked the story of the Outsider!! Both stories wonderfully narrated as always!
This time I noticed some clipping in the more excited tones in The Other Gods. The distortion is minimal so it doesn't need rerecording or anything, I'm just mentioning it in case it helps prevent it in the future recordings. Maybe you'll have to consciously back off from the microphone when the reading gets more excited. Or overall reduced the input volume. If you use Audacity, you can activate the option "Show clipping" in the View menu, and then you can see where exactly the clipping is and check how it sounds.

Oh yes! If you're up for it, I think it's nice to have a Lovecraft project in progress until all the available short stories are covered!Piotrek wrote:Shall we launch pt. 4 after this one is closed?

That's one vote in favour I'll probably do away with "2 sections tops" restriction though because most stories that remained on the list you've kindly prepared are quite long.rapunzelina wrote:Oh yes! Re: GROUP/ENG Selected Short Stories by H. P. Lovecraft v.3
Yes. There are only five of the short ones left, and some are fragmentary and some too short to warrant sections of their own. Maybe we could group a bunch or all of them together in one section called "Fragments" or something like that, just to clean up the plate.Piotrek wrote:I'll probably do away with "2 sections tops" restriction though because most stories that remained on the list you've kindly prepared are quite long.
I'd like to do "The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath" as a solo, if I may. If there's no objection, I'll go ahead and launch it in the appropriate section in the usual way (he says, never having done it before )
And (again, if it's ok) in the new Volume 4, I'd like to take three sections for "The Call of Cthulhu."

No objection from me, that's for sure Go forth and record that, just don't forget about this collection And launching a solo here is done exactly in the same way as on LV. You go to Launch Pad, fill in the template, wait for the code, and copy and paste it to the new thread.mreyto wrote:I'd like to do "The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath" as a solo, if I may. Sure, I'll remember about your claim when launching vol. 4mreyto wrote:And (again, if it's ok) in the new Volume 4, I'd like to take three sections for "The Call of Cthulhu."
Which reminds me, the list prepared by Rapunzelina doesn't include the stories I've soloed such as "Colour out of Space" or "Haunter of the Dark" which are about 10,000 words long each. They are of course available for re-recording
Re: GROUP/ENG Selected Short Stories by H. P. Lovecraft v.3
Thanks for that. I was aware of the possibility and I did in fact lean back from the mic about a foot when I did all that yelling. I guess not enough. The input on the recording software I use doesn't show it as clipped, which is why I didn't notice. I did raise the volume a bit on the output, so that's probably where it happened. Maybe applying a little compression would fix it too.rapunzelina wrote: Oh, I liked the story of the Outsider!! Both stories wonderfully narrated as always!

I must say I wasn't exactly moved by the shrieking of Barzai the Wise. It's hard to make stuff like "Oh no, I'm falling into the sky!" sound serious, let alone scary. I had to think about how to do it, and I'm not totally pleased with how it came out even so. I felt much more engaged with "The Outsider," so I'm glad you liked it especially.

Well, HPL definitely wasn't a master at making his protagonists sound convincing or natural

Here's the link to "The Transition..." Duration: 16:56 Something strange is happening when I'm trying to put it in the MW.

I've just noticed that I didn't post the link I asked Victor if he could find the file and post the link.

And final section for this project, PL OK
Re: GROUP/ENG Selected Short Stories by H. P. Lovecraft v.3
I added a short description. We're ready for cataloguing.
Re: GROUP/ENG Selected Short Stories by H. P. Lovecraft v.3
In around one hour, downloads will be ready:
http://listen.legamus.eu/lovecraft_shortstories3/
Took me some time to go through the metadata - I deleted some extra fields like date and time, and I tried to adapt the metadata to the previous collections - because this time, I only had the command line to use. Good training for future automation.
