... and No. 6 too, wauw, you're quick :) Have a very nice holiday (and Nadine, hopefully it's not so hot anymore in your lab ...) I'll get back with PL-results of the 1st six chapters (and perhaps even seven, depending on what you'll do tonight ;)) by mid of July.

Haha, I doubt I'll get any done tonight. I haven't even begun sorting out what clothes I'm taking tomorrow

No prob & good luck! We still have all packing to do, but hey ... we'll leave on Monday! (and I was very happy, BTW, that the cheap, 2nd hand Lonely Planet guide that I ordered on Amazon UK last week arrived júst in time, today at the office)

Yeah, I know, you guys are all on holiday, but I just thought I'd mention that I have noticed a typo in the filename for chapter 5. no need to reupload just for that, but I wrote down a note so I won't forget.

i'm back from my holiday now ;)
i will need to re-upload them all eventually anyway, as the first few chapters don't have a proper disclaimer 8-)

I'm also back; PL'ed the first 6 chapters during my holiday. A nice read (listen) :) Please wait with uploading the files with new disclaimers until I get around posting my PL-remarks over here - I expect to be able to do so in the coming few days. I had something for each chapter if I recall correctly (don't worry, no big things :D).

Will now download chapter 7; I was quite frustrated with the cliff hanger at the end of chapter 6 :P

Thanks Katt :) I'll get those edited as soon as you have the notes up (meaning you can take as long as you like ;) )

And Chapter 8 is uploading right now.

Here I am :D
I downloaded the 9 files so far and I'll begin listening tomorrow. So far I checked the tech specs of these files. All is OK. I also checked the tags. The tag "Genre: Speech" is missing.

Do you need a special PL, like word perfect against the text?

oops. I'll check the tags once I know if there's any other edits to be made.

I just need standard PL, so it doesn't need to be checked against the text :D

Don't worry too much about the tags, I think we have a tool to make them when cataloging :)

Thank you! It's nice to be here :)

I just finished listening Chapter 1!

There's a change in volume, at 7:28. I didn't find it disturbing, but I thought I'd mention it for you to check it out, too. Apart from that, all is OK, no repetitions or gaps, except from the 5 sec in the end ;)

About the disclaimer, is this the agreed upon or just a temporary one?

(Also, I am quite new at this experience, both at Librivox and here. I'll do my best - listening can't be that hard :P - I hope I won't disappoint you!)

I'm not sure how that happened. It sounds like I used 2 different microphones, but I didn't get my new one until the end of august :S I'll just leave it as is though. I barely have time to record at the moment, let alone re-record ;)

I believe that's the disclaimer agreed upon, but I'll just check :)

Edit - I have no idea what the 'official' disclaimer is, although im sure i remember one being agreed upon :?

Well, I used
[Section number] of [book title by Author]. This Legamus recording may be distributed and adapted freely for any purpose.
[Chapter title]
for all of the chapters so far. I'm guessing this is ok.

Chapter 2 is OK. The only thing missing is the "End of Chapter 2" in the end (the 5 sec silence is there).

In Chapter 3, there are a few points I'd like you to check when you have the time, although they might not need any alteration (or just some minor editing):
~8:03 a 1-2 sec gap
~24:39 a 1-2 sec gap
~24:53 a short repetition

Another thing that I noticed is the interchangeable use of the words "Section" vs "Chapter".

In the first file:
Section 1 of The House Without a Key by Earl Derr Biggers
[disclaimer]
Chapter 1 Kona Weather
[text]
End of Chapter 1

In the second file:
Section 2 of The House Without a Key by Earl Derr Biggers
[disclaimer]
Section 2 The High Hat
[text]
(End of Chapter (or Section) 2 missing)

In the third file:
Section 3 of The House Without a Key by Earl Derr Biggers
[disclaimer]
Section 3 Midnight on Russian Hill
[text]
End of Chapter 3
Recording by Ashleigh Jane

I'll be back tomorrow with the next chapters :D

I've added the 'end of chapter' to section 2, and removed the gaps and 'read by' (i don't know why i decided to say that again :S?) from chapter 3.

The most important things were the missing 'end of' and the repeat, but I did remove the silences in section 3 since I needed to remove the 'read by' and the repeat anyway. 8-)

I've left the disclaimers as they are for now, but I may go back and edit them later when I have the time and patience :P . I'll make sure to stick to 'sections' in the future though :D

ETA: (I finally found out what ETA stands for :D) I've uploaded section 10, but it's under the same link as the first 9 chapters anyway :D

In Section 4, there is a repetition around 16:34 to 16:58 of
"That's good," said Bowker. He switched off the cabin light and stepped out on to the deck. "I aim to take particular care of you, sir. Saw your home town on the sailing list. I'm an old Boston man myself."

Apart from that, Section 4 is OK. (and apart from the fact that it starts as Section 4 and ends as Chapter 4 :P )
ashleighjane wrote:I've added the 'end of chapter' to section 2, and removed the gaps and 'read by' (i don't know why i decided to say that again :S?) from chapter 3.
In fact, there wasn't any "recording by" or "read by" until this one, at the end of chapter 3 and, as it turns out, in the end of chapters 4, 5, 6 .

I went through all the uploaded files again, the beginning and end of each, and here it is:

[disclaimer]
Chapter 1 Kona Weather
[text]
End of Chapter 1

Section 2 of The House Without a Key by Earl Derr Biggers
[disclaimer]
Section 2 The High Hat
[text]
End of Chapter 2

Section 3 of The House Without a Key by Earl Derr Biggers
[disclaimer]
Section 3 Midnight on Russian Hill
[text]
End of Chapter 3

Section 4 of The House Without a Key by Earl Derr Biggers
[disclaimer]
Section 4 A Friend of Tim's
[text]
End of Section 4
Recording by Ashleigh Jane

Section 5 of The House Without a Key by Earl Derr Biggers
[disclaimer]
Section 5 The Blood of the Winterslips
[text]
End of Chapter 5
Recording by Ashleigh Jane

Section 6 of The House Without a Key by Earl Derr Biggers
[disclaimer]
Section 6 Beyond the Bamboo Curtain
[text]
