Books suggested at librivox

Post by chigozie »

The books in the OP here https://forum.librivox.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11406 which could be done at legamus are
  • The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (d. 1940)
  • The Magic Garden by Gene Stratton Porter (d. 1924)
  • Orlando, by Virginia Woolf (d. March 28, 1941*)
  • Precious Bane: A Novel by Mary Webb (d. 1927)
  • The Prophet by Khalil Gibran** (d. 1931)
(*does 70 years apply by day or by year?)
(**RuthieG is recording this already...)

I haven't checked any of the books in the subsequent comments.

70 years applies by year, and from January 1st each year. That means Maurice Leblanc, for instance, who died in 1941, will be PD in France in 2012, on January 1st (looking forward to that).

Interesting list :)
The Great Gatsby and several of the Lucy Maud Montgomery books are on Gutenberg Australia.

Does anyone know more about this book or where I could find the text for it? I already check PG

Amazon has it for a mere 361$... I can't seem to find an online text though (for free that is).

 wow!! The little I was able to find sounds very interesting, and I love Gene Stratton Porters books, maybe a free online text will show up some day...

Maybe your library has a copy you could read from? :)
