Re: Welcome everybody!
Hi
Finally got here; too tired to think of anything arresting to say.
Not too tired to think of a whole armful of books I couldn't record for Librivox... but as Ruth says, it's having the time!
Hope to contribute soon, even if it's tentative at first.
Best to everyone, and goodnight -
Martin

Re: Welcome everybody!
Welcome @ all new members; it is nice to see our community is growing so fast
Re: Welcome everybody!
Congratulations everyone! This is exciting.
I stumbled across you this afternoon--don't have too much experience on LV yet, although we've each done a couple of chapters of "The God of all Comfort", Kattekliek!
Good luck.

Welcome, Carol, glad you have joined!
Have a look around, there is not that much to choose from yet, but we do have a group project looking for readers

Re: Welcome everybody!
Seems a while since anybody posted in this topic so here's my introduction. I know most of your names from Librivox and maybe some of you will recognize mine. I'm in Canada where our PD is life+50 so if it's PD for you, it's definitely PD for me. I'll check in every so often and see what I can contribute.

Hi Darvinia
Welcome to our little corner!
We do have a group project looking for readers And proof listeners are always welcome.
Just remember to check the box "notify me" at the bottom, it does not happen automatically like at LV.

Re: Welcome everybody!
In your "User Control Panel" you can set "notify me at reply" to be checked by default. It's the tab "Board preferences", "Edit posting defaults", "Notify me upon replies by default".neckertb wrote:Just remember to check the box "notify me" at the bottom, it does not happen automatically like at LV.
Should I make it so that this box is checked by default for all new users? Maybe a good idea if you are used to it from LV.
Another option, no matter whether you posted in a thread or not, you have always the little link "Subscribe topic". And a third way, the one I prefer, are the newsfeeds
Re: Welcome everybody!
Thank you Nadine and Viktor.
I'm a bit of a geek, and I like to set things up the way I like them (I can't help anybody with Audacity because of this. I've changed all the tool bars around so when somebody asks where a button is, I can't just say "it's in the lower left corner", because chances are mine is different) so as soon as I was registered I went to the User Control Panel and clicked a few things. I like RSS feeds too so I was happy to see that.
I think it's a good idea to notify by email as a default. Can't have too much information, in my opinion. And then for the people that really don't want this, it's easy enough for them to turn it off.

Re: Welcome everybody!
"Forums" like "Readers Wanted" or "Readers Found" have a red icon - that's the feed for that particular forum. Left of the "Last post by..." line.
There are more feeds: A global one for all posts, or for "active topics", or - when you're on a particular thread - a feed just for that thread. In a Mozilla browser (Firefox or Seamonkey) all these feeds are shown by the same red icon, this time located on the right side within your browser's address bar.
Mozilla "sees" the feeds because they are written into the HTML. Other browsers have certainly also ways of discovering them, and maybe all feeds should get their own icons on the page; for me it's usually enough to look at the top of the HTML source code and look for <link rel="alternate"> tags.

Re: Welcome everybody!
OK, new users should now have their "Notify me upon replies by default" checked. For a newly registered test user, it worked. Existing users still have to tick that box themselves

Hi, I'm here! Life + 50 so as Darvinia says, if it is PD for you, it is PD for me. I offer PL but won't be checking in here much so PM me over at LV and I'll have a look.

Re: Welcome everybody!
Hello!
I just stumbled into this this afternoon, but it looks great. Anyway, I'll try to sort out my way around here and will volunteer as often as I can. I'll probably start with PL.
