Re: solo[ENG]Death of an Airman - Christopher St John Sprigg
10 and 11 are PL OK.
Not going for the French accent seems fine. I usually reserve those for characters I don't have to sustain for long periods of recording, or for books that have a heightened or melodramatic style or something like that (a villainous Italian count! a dastardly French conspirator!). If in doubt, don't do it!
This plot is going all sorts of places I didn't expect.

PL OK! Don't leave me hanging!
Re: solo[ENG]Death of an Airman - Christopher St John Sprigg
Chapter 17 & 18 up!
I couldn't stop anymore, of course - the remaining chapters only have to be edited. But I won't give the end away
I've also made the cover picture already, Hokus. I don't remember how to upload/send it to you...

Don't do it, bishop, you fool!
17 and 18 PL OK.
If you ever have the chance to watch Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, you might like it. It's set in the Melbourne in the 1920s, and has some of the glamour of this book. The title character drives too fast, picks up the most attractive blokes in town and generally enjoys life while she's busy solving crimes. The music is great, too. It's one of my guilty pleasures.

A long chapter 19 is up too!
Exposition, and some cliffhanger...
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries? Haven't heard of them, but I'm going to look it up, thanks!

Oooooooh, I guessed some, but not all, of that. PL OK.
Re: solo[ENG]Death of an Airman - Christopher St John Sprigg
And the last chapter!
Yes, I had an idea who the Chief was for a chapter or 2 before, but I hadn't figured out how they did it.
And I hadn't expected what happens in the last few minutes of the book!

Aaaaaand it's PL OK!
My pc is also sorting all the chapters as part of the same book, so that looks okay, too. Congrats!

Thank you so much for the PL-ing, Erin! And so quickly!
Hokus, I'll write a better summary tomorrow. I also have a "cover" picture ready.

Hello Hokuspokus,
I remembered that I could just upload the jpg via the uploader: https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/ ... Airman.jpg
And here's the updated summary:

Let me know if you need something else. Thanks! The scene of this classic ‘whodunit’ story from the ‘Golden Age of detective fiction’ is a 1930’s Aero Club, filled with small open-cockpit aircraft and a host of excentric characters. Experienced flight instructor George Furnace dies in a plane crash near the airfield, in full view of witnesses. The verdict at the inquest is ‘death by misadventure’. But an Australian bishop, who had signed up for flying lessons just before the incident, starts to question this. Could it have been murder? Or suicide? It takes some persistent work by police detectives Creighton and Bray, that takes them all over the UK and to France, to unravel the whole story.
Author Christopher St John Sprigg (1907-1937) had a passion for aviation; he had previously published two beginners textbooks on the art of flying, so presumably he got his details right. Famous crime fiction novelist Dorothy L. Sayers wrote a glowing review for this novel at the time.
