Re: COMPLETE [eng/SOLO] Short Stories I by F. Scott Fitzgerald - vik
I'm afraid I can't do more to help that. It's a single static file, delivered directly by the web server. Maybe it's the browser on your phone that stops or pauses the download when you're leaving the app? In case you have other large downloads - this one's 2 GB - is it the same? (I'm only talking ...

Re: COMPLETE [eng/SOLO] Short Stories I by F. Scott Fitzgerald - vik
Indeed, it looks like this project is too big for the Node downloader script. It usually takes all the files and zips them up, so I don't have to store the files twice (once as MP3, once as ZIP). For a long time, I wanted to rewrite it in a language where I have more control about the process.

Re: [eng/SOLO] Short Stories I by F. Scott Fitzgerald - vik
Please have a look!
I changed the tags - especially the "title"; changed the abstract (before it read like an abstract of just "Great Gatsby", now it's a slightly edited form of the first Wikipedia paragraph for Fitzgerald; and used a later picture of his for the cover.

Thank you, that settles everything!
For c), I'll then go with the non-repeated 8:11 version - Lynette, do you agree?

I compared the links in the MW with the most recent uploads. Most match :) but these do not:
* Part 30: https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/IVyhURBj/shortstories1_30_fitzgerald.mp3 (IVyhURBj) is on the MW
but https://upload.legamus.eu/simple/files/D7vdsA7q/shortstories1_30_fitzgerald.mp3 ...

Do you have an idea for a (public domain) picture that I should use for the cover?

Hello,
apart from an occasional server reboot, the forum is usually stable. However, recently there was a kind of "attack": thousands of IP addresses connected and didn't wait for the answer; instead they immediately sent more requests, flooding the server.

Re: Hosting
There will be a few unavailability windows of one or a few hours of all services (forum, blog, uploader and downloader) due to hardware troubleshooting and maintenance. The first of these should be during Monday afternoon.
EDIT: nothing happened on Monday, but there is a scheduled downtime tomorrow ...

Here are the word counts of the other stories, a bit rounded - I just copied the texts into LibreOffice Writer and looked at the status bar or the properties.
EDIT: list moved to the first page.

Re: [eng/SOLO] Short Stories I by F. Scott Fitzgerald - vik
Hello Adrian,
I assume these Pat Hobby stories are OK from a copyright point of view (that is, the only author is Fitzgerald). I don't see any information to the contrary. Then it's completely up to you! If you want to read them, I can do the word counts.

Re: solo [ENGLISH] The Guermantes Way by Marcel Proust - vik
Right. As I'm not a copyright expert, I tried a very minimal change:
"but is still protected by copyright in the USA and some other countries."
to
"but may still be protected by copyright in other countries."

E-mail notifications are working now, so I use this for a "forum bump"
Hello Andrew, I have two suggestions for a cover.

I hope that e-mails work now. At least, until the forum wants to send too many. Then I'll have to look for another solution.

I moved that line in the MW.
About notifications - I try to reconfigure the e-mail setup, but I may need to contact my domain name provider as I cannot authenticate correctly.

Re: [eng/SOLO] Short Stories I by F. Scott Fitzgerald - vik
I don't know what the practice is here in Legamus; in LV, they want the file to be within 74 minutes simply because that's how much time will fit on a CD for those who burn the audiobooks into hard-copy.
If that's not an issue for Legamus, is there any other reason a story can't be 86 minutes long ...
