Re: Forum guidelines?
We could do a multilingual short works collection. 5 or 10 sections, to see how things work out.

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on
Nice draft, HP! I would maybe add: Number of sections the project will have (please note that the sections should be less than 60 minutes long) And we should add teh 5/10 s rule somewhere. Good catch. I've added that. But it's 70 min. That's what fits on one CD in wav. (So I'm absolutely pro shorte...

Re: Disclaimer I think we should have a disclaimer in each recording. How about: Only for the first section: Book Title by Author. Translated by Translator. This Legamus dot eu recording is in the Public Domain. Chapter/section 1 (Chaptertitle) For all other sections: Section # of Book Title. This L...

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on
So I tried to do a first draft of a all purpose template: Please copy from line to line. ======================================================= Want to coordinate a project or read a book on your own? Please fill in this list and post in the Lauch Pad. As title please put in: Groupe/Solo [LANGUAGE]...

Re: Forum guidelines?
I don't think we need a test just yet (we don't have any firm technical settings required -- LibriVox's settings come from archive.org's needs.) I do think we need a launchpad where we can double-check on copyright issues before work is started -- some guidance there seems useful. (Though it's so b...

Re: File hosting, distribution and storage
It wouldn't help us much to host all files in one country. We still need to advice our readers what they can read and give a clue to the listeners, what they can download. Therefore we shouldn't do any shorter than life+70. Wikipedia writes: Die nationalen Gesetzgeber sind grundsätzlich frei in der ...

Re: Forum guidelines?
now for the thousand dollar question: what are we missing before we can launch something? Actually - nothing :D We know where to put the files. At the moment we are all experienced readers who don't need everything spelled out. One thing we need before we can complete a project is some so...

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on
The language is so important that I would put it in the title of the project thread. Like:
[Language] Book Title by Author.
Google docs could be a good thing for more that one person working on a project, like BC and DPL. The downside it, that some people can't see or use them for some reason.

Re: Ten books
Might be true in some countries of the EU, but for Germany it is 70 years and no excuse.
Were have you found the information about 50 years for posthumous publications? I'd like to have a look on that.

Re: Ten books
Hi Carl, Great that you are here. The books sound all very interesting. Unfortunately Virginia Woolf and Wittgenstein aren't pd here yet. Works enter the public domain on Jan 1. of the year that follows the 70th death year of the author. Virginia Woolf died 1941, so she will be pd next year, for Wit...

I like the name Legamus! I'm all in favour to keep it. The old part of the forum doesn't disturb me at all. It might course problems one day, but until then only move it, when you want to. Re: Templates, tech specs and so on
I kept the "number of sections the project will have" for the reason people get crazy with this. We have had people thinking they will start a project with 1300 sections, for example. Very good point. I didn't think about that. People tended to mess up the section number being different f...

Re: File hosting, distribution and storage
The metadata ideally is stored in the ID3tags, done by the reader. LV has a tool that can suck the tags from the database in the final cataloging, but I fear we are far away from that. With mp3tag, one can check the tags, mass-set tags or change them individually. http://www.mp3tag.de/ That's a bit...

Re: Templates, tech specs and so on
The idea with the ZTWO0 sounds good, but I bet many readers won't get it right.
I have never read an error report because of the shortened file name problem. But many many because of Itunes (Ih-tunes )
You can't make all people happy. Today errors in the tags are the bigger problem.
