Re: solo [ENGLISH] The Guermantes Way by Marcel Proust - vik
Please don't apologise. It's a wonder that anything is being recorded right now as so many places lurch from one lockdown to the next, so it's a bonus when you do upload a section. It's nice to hear your voice again.
Two notes for section 30:
17.39-17.43
as other seasons [heard scenes] made them balmy, luminous, Italian
33.03-33.11
...voluptuous, whimpering passages which sound over the chant of the pilgrims towards the end of Overture to Tannhäuser.

This one is a bit fussy, I realise!

Re: solo [ENGLISH] The Guermantes Way by Marcel Proust - vik
Section 33 uploaded. I'm finding it easier to get editing done during lockdown than the recording. Hoping that it'll get simpler when my daughter is allowed back to school because I'm so enjoying the Proust.

Section 33 is PL OK. Lockdown is proving to be such an odd time for recording and editing. I'm glad that at least the editing is coming along, and that it's giving you something nice to work on amidst everything else. I hope the Couch to 5k, if you're still doing it, has you feeling good as well.

Section 34 finally edited - a day late for Marcel's 150th birthday.
I finished the couch to 5k project and am now running 10-12k each weekend.

Notes for section 34 below. That is astounding about running 10-12k. I'm very pleased for you, as that's a tremendous success by any measure.

Section 34 is spot PL OK. Section 35 is PL OK.
I'll be dipping in and out for 2-2.5 weeks in July, so if you do have another section to upload, please be aware that I've not vanished.
I hope you're generally keeping well and that life is treating you kindly.

Section 36 uploaded. Don't worry about not listening for a few weeks - have a good holiday. There's no rush with Proust!

Re: solo [ENGLISH] The Guermantes Way by Marcel Proust - vik
Section 38 uploaded. This had lots of French verse and French names and a German ch sound so was very difficult. I've done my best with pronunciations but will probably horrify any genuine linguist!
I was annoyed at Scott-Moncrieff for "laziness" in leaving so much in French but find the modern Penguin translation also leaves the verses in French.

Re: solo [ENGLISH] The Guermantes Way by Marcel Proust - vik
I haven't the first idea of how influential Scott-Moncrief's translation was. Perhaps the Penguin translation was influenced by that, if other subsequent translations followed the same pattern.
One pronunciation note for section 38:
42.32-42.37
...she was so much made for marriage, so conjugal from her cradle
that…
